Broccoli Bhaji

  • 200 g broccoli florets
  • 1/2 tsp ground onion
  • 1/2 tsp ground root ginger
  • ¼ ground black pepper powder
  • ¼ ground cumin powder
  • 1 green chilli, finely chopped, if preferred
  • 10 tbsp gram flour
  • ¼ tsp of nigella sativa seeds/onion seeds
  • 500 ml of vegetable oil for frying
  • salt

Preparation:

Start by heating your deep fryer to 180 ºC, while mix together the ingredients for the broccoli bhaji.

Add the ground onion, ginger, black pepper powder, cumin powder, chilli, gram flour, nigella seeds/onion seeds and salt to taste. Add water and mix well so it is thick enough to hold broccoli florets shape when broccoli florets dip

Check the temperature of the oil by dropping in a small broccoli floret- it should sizzle and float.

Repeat the process in small batches until all the broccoli florets is used. Drain the fried broccoli bhaji on the kitchen towel. Serve immediately or allow cool down to room temperature
